Why do yoga for mum and baby?

STRETCH - TONE - BREATHE - RELAX - REVIVE

The one word that sums up Yoga for Mum and Baby is bonding

First, you get to bond with yourself! It is a dedicated time to focus attention on yourself, reconnecting with your body, breath and mind. It is about physically bonding the body back together, sealing the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis. It is about lengthening the spine and easing low and upper back pain. This class is designed specifically for postnatal mums so it is not too strenuous, and it works with your recovering and changing body. It is a great way to focus on your wellbeing, with time for breathing and relaxation included.

Second, you get to bond with your baby! Yoga poses are modified so that you can practice with your baby, either holding them, or pausing to touch or smile at them whilst they lie on your mat. Mostly babies will enjoy watching but sometimes they won’t! When your baby needs to be held, fed or changed, just stop and look after them and join in again when you can. Poses done with baby are great for aiding their sleep, digestion and general contentedness.

Finally, it is a time to bond with other new mums! Early postnatal days can be isolating, so this class is a great opportunity to meet others in the same position as you. There is time at the end for talking, and a cup of tea.

I am looking forward to meeting you and your new baby.
